The PAULSTRA rubber silent block combines excellent elastic properties with exceptional damping capabilities. Most of our standard silent blocks and rubber stops are made from natural rubber (Shore A hardness), selected for its excellent dynamic properties. Many of our mountings are held in stock and are therefore quickly available, with delivery within 24 to 48 hours. Contact our technical team for advice on any vibration-related issues.

What is a PAULSTRA silent block (cylindrical rubber mounting) used for?

The silent block rubber mounting (sometimes incorrectly referred to as a cylindrical block suspension) is used to absorb vibrations and reduce shocks between different moving mechanical parts, such as machine engines or vehicle engines, thereby also reducing the noise generated. It can be used as a rubber stop with male or female fixings in different lengths, or as a connecting element between several components, for example the RADIAFLEX SE111 MOUNTINGS. The silent block is widely used in the automotive industry as well as in mechanical and industrial applications because it provides a reliable, efficient and economical technical solution for vibration problems. Many mountings are held in stock and can be delivered quickly at competitive prices. Please contact our technical team for advice on your vibration problems.

Our selection of PAULSTRA silent blocks and rubber stops for engine suspension

We supply a wide range of anti-vibration components and Paulstra silent blocks manufactured by Hutchinson. They are mainly made from rubber (Shore A hardness) and other technical elastomers, unlike polyurethane silent blocks such as Powerflex mountings used in the automotive sector, which are less commonly used in industrial applications due to their higher cost.

The 25 products in our universal range of silent block mountings are designed to meet a wide variety of vibration and suspension requirements, particularly for combustion and electric engines. Contact our technical team on +33 (0)4 77 47 51 92 if you need advice or information about the availability of the required parts.

What is a rubber stop mounting used for?

PAULSTRA rubber stops are moulded rubber components designed to absorb shocks, dissipate energy and reduce vibrations generated by machinery, overhead cranes, engines, pumps, vehicles and other equipment. They can be cylindrical or conical to provide more progressive energy absorption. Rubber stops are generally fixed using a threaded stud connected to the rubber through a metal plate. Rubber stops form a subcategory of conventional silent block mountings. Contact our sales team for information about the price and stock availability of the selected product.

What is the role of a silent block mounting or flexible bush?

Our flexible bushes and Paulstra silent blocks are most commonly used in industrial applications and machinery, although silent blocks are also widely known in the automotive sector. Their use in industry has provided significant improvements compared with traditional mechanical joints and bearings. Silent blocks provide an elastic connection between different machine components, helping to reduce clearance, friction and vibration. The benefits for machinery include reduced wear, which can reduce maintenance requirements, as well as lower noise levels. Typical applications include air-conditioning equipment, on-board equipment, pumps, motor-driven fans, vibrating tables, hoppers, lifts and combustion engines. An anti-vibration mounting or rubber silent block is frequently used in compression to support the weight of moving components while isolating them from the supporting structure. Silent blocks help reduce mechanical play and isolate high-frequency vibrations. Depending on the application, additional retaining systems may be used to secure the mechanical assembly. We also offer a range of flexible couplings designed to reduce vibrations generated by power transmission.

In a vehicle, for example, silent blocks can provide the connection between the chassis, suspension arms and anti-roll bar. These components contribute to the safe and correct operation of the vehicle. Silent blocks can also help isolate the clutch, gearbox, shock absorbers and engine by reducing vibrations transmitted to the supporting metal structure. They can also be used to secure the exhaust system to the chassis while absorbing impacts and vibrations. Exhaust silent blocks must also withstand elevated temperatures.
